The former world No. 20 Dmitry Tursunov analyzed Novak Djokovic’s shocking second-round loss to Botic Van De Zandschulp at the Indian Wells Masters 1000.

According to Tursunov, the numbers spoke for themselves—winning under such conditions was out of the question.

“I think everyone understands that Novak is far from his peak form right now. That’s why the match didn’t go well. But what’s truly striking is that he didn’t hit a single ace. Three double faults aren’t a disaster, but for one of the greatest servers in tennis to have zero aces? That’s a warning sign.”

Djokovic’s first serve percentage stood at 67%, which wasn’t bad. Van De Zandschulp had 71%. More concerning was his win percentage on second serves: a dismal 29%, compared to 71% for his opponent.

Tursunov didn’t mince words: “This is not allowed on the men’s tour. With such a stat, winning is simply impossible.”
