Novak Djokovic: “I’m Not Looking for Excuses After a Bad Match, But This Was Really Tough. Honestly, the Difference Between the Main Court and the Others Is Immense.”
After his surprising second-round exit at the Indian Wells Masters 1000 against Botic Van De Zandschulp, Novak Djokovic faced the press. While he refused to blame external factors for his performance, he couldn’t ignore one key issue—the court surface.
“There’s always something going on during a match, but I don’t want to talk about it. I mean, there are no excuses for a bad performance. It wasn’t fun playing like that, but credit to my opponent. It was just one of those bad days at the office for me.”
Despite his frustration, Djokovic admitted the court conditions threw him off.
“Honestly, the difference between the main court and the other courts is immense. The ball bounces higher here than on some of the highest-bouncing clay courts. Yeah, I really struggled with that. I just couldn’t find my rhythm.”
Do you think Djokovic will bounce back from his poor form?
