Elina Svitolina: “Since the meeting between Trump and my president, Zelensky, in the Oval Office, I have received many messages of support from the American people and a lot of love for Ukrainians.”
After securing her spot in the quarterfinals of the WTA 1000 in Indian Wells with a strong victory over Jessica Pegula, Elina Svitolina appeared at a press conference, where she was frequently asked about her interactions with the American public regarding the war between her country, Ukraine, and Russia.
“I feel like since that meeting in the Oval Office, I have received a lot of messages of support from the American people and from the fans here when I arrived at the tournament. They show a lot of love and support for Ukrainians. This is just based on my personal experience here. And the overwhelming support I received, especially considering that I played three American opponents in a row. So, yes, it’s incredible. It’s truly special to feel that, given all the stress that Ukrainians are facing in their country right now.”
