Daniil Medvedev isn’t holding back when it comes to the conditions at Indian Wells. Once again, the former world No. 1 called out the notoriously slow courts, emphasizing how much they impact the game.

Medvedev’s frustration echoes what many players have felt over the years turning Indian Wells into one of the most debated stops on the calendar.

Qualified for the Indian Wells round of 16 after Alex Michelsen’s early retirement (2-0, then withdrawal), Daniil Medvedev joined Tennis Channel’s set, where he was once again asked about the court conditions. And the Russian was clear in his response.

“I don’t see much of a difference, but if I had to say something, I’d say it’s even slower than before. It’s hard to tell because we know this is the slowest surface on tour, but every year, we forget just how slow it was the last time. It’s slow, no matter the speed index or whatever parameter you use. It’s slow, no matter what people say, and you can see in the matches how much players struggle to hit winners. It’s very slow, but I think I can play well here.”
