I recently had the chance to test the Asics Gel Resolution X, the 10th generation of the iconic Gel Resolution line. Known for its stability, durability, and comfort, this shoe promises to be a reliable option for players of all levels. After putting it through its paces on the court, here’s my detailed review.

Shoe Presentation and Tech

The Asics Gel Resolution X builds on the success of its predecessor, the Gel Resolution 9, with key updates that elevate performance. Asics has re-engineered the Dynawall system to maximize lateral stability while maintaining comfort during aggressive cuts and direction changes. This makes it a standout choice for players who rely on quick, explosive movements.

The upper features DYNALACING, which allows for a customizable fit, and the Flexion Fit design enhances support, comfort, and ventilation. Overall, the Gel Resolution X is packed with technology designed to meet the demands of competitive players

The midsole features a combination of FlyteFoam Blast+ and ECO Foam, offering a plush, responsive feel underfoot. Asics’ signature Gel cushioning in the forefoot adds to the shock absorption, ensuring a comfortable ride even during long matches.

The medial side of the ankle collar has been raised for added padding, while the PGUARD on the medial toe box provides drag protection for players who slide on hard courts.

The outsole is made of AHAR Plus rubber, known for its exceptional durability. The multi-directional tread pattern ensures excellent grip on all court surfaces, and the shoe comes with a six-month outsole durability guarantee.

What I Liked

  • Stability and Support:
    • Redesigned Dynawall system keeps your foot secure during aggressive lateral movements.
    • Raised medial ankle collar provides extra protection for players who slide on hard courts.
    • Thick padding adds comfort, though it requires a short break-in period.
  • Cushioning:
    • Combines FlyteFoam Blast+, ECO Foam, and Gel in the forefoot for a plush, responsive feel.
    • Keeps feet fresh and pain-free even after long matches.
  • Durability:
    • the rubber outsole shows minimal wear even after weeks of hardcourt play. PGUARD toe protector prevents damage from toe dragging and sliding.
    • the upper is tough and can withstand heavy abuse.
  • Fit and Lockdown:
    • the lacing system offers a customizable fit, especially in the midfoot and forefoot.
    • Great for players who need a secure, snug feel.

What I Disliked

the GRX compared to the GR9

1) Fit Issues:

  • Runs long and roomy—narrow or medium-footed players may need to size down.
  • Midfoot can feel snug for wider feet due to the Dynawall.

2) Heel Slippage:

  • Some movement in the heel area, even after breaking in.
  • Laces are slightly short, and the thick ankle padding doesn’t lock the heel as well as the midfoot.
  • Using a runner’s knot helps but doesn’t fully eliminate the issue.

3) Weight:

  • At 16.1 ounces (size 10.5 US), it’s heavy and not ideal for players who prioritize speed and agility.
  • Feels more like a tank—built for durability and stability rather than quick movements.
  • Less connection to the court than the Gel Resoltion 8 or 9

Final Words

The Asics Gel Resolution X is a fantastic update. It delivers on all fronts: stability, durability, comfort, and performance. Whether you’re a competitive player or a weekend warrior, this shoe is a reliable choice that won’t let you down.
